James Thomas Cox, 70, of Altavista, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at Fairmont Crossing in Amherst. Born May 31, 1942 in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Jessie Earl and Mary Logwood Cox. He was retired from the Lane Company with thirty years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Cox is survived by two daughters, Christy C. Brooks and husband Tim of Madison Heights and Beth C. Branham and husband Shane of Monroe; one sister, Christine C. Powell and husband Ken of Salem; five grandchildren, Whitney, Lauren, Kayla, Luke, and Stewart; a special cousin, Danny Logwood and special friends, Tom Webb,...
James Thomas Cox, 70, of Altavista, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at Fairmont Crossing in Amherst.

Born May 31, 1942 in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Jessie Earl and Mary Logwood Cox. He was retired from the Lane Company with thirty years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Cox is survived by two daughters, Christy C. Brooks and husband Tim of Madison Heights and Beth C. Branham and husband Shane of Monroe; one sister, Christine C. Powell and husband Ken of Salem; five grandchildren, Whitney, Lauren, Kayla, Luke, and Stewart; a special cousin, Danny Logwood and special friends, Tom Webb, Dodd Harvey, Steve Moore, Janet Copper, and Ashby Milstead.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Bill Evans and Pastor Bill Mitchell officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service until 5:00 p.m.
