Mr. James Augustus "Gus" Davidson, 81, of 331 Jo Monni Loop, Statesville, died Saturday morning at his home.
She was born on February 10, 1932, in Iredell County, and was a son of the late W. C. "Connor" Davidson and Mollie (Genoa) Morrison. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the Fraternal Order Of Odd Fellows. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey, Tommy, Bill and George Davidson; and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Benton.
On September 22, 1956, he married the former Laura Lambert who survives. Also surviving are a son, James Ray Davidson and his wife, Teresa, of Hickory; four daughters, Tina Marie Davidson of Statesville, Patty Camery and her husband, Jay, of Winchester, VA, Janie O'Connor and her husband, Patrick, of Advance and Barbara Ann Davidson of Statesville; three brothers, Jessie Davidson and his wife, Sue, Jack Davidson and his wife, Kay, and Walter Davidson and his wife, Melinda; a sister, Dot Blackwelder and her husband, Jim, all of Statesville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services celebrating Gus' life will be conducted at 11:00 Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. James D. Cartin officiating. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and entombment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, and at other times the family will be assembled at the home.

Memorials may be given to Western Avenue Baptist Church, 1206 Museum Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
