James "Norm" Evans

Obituary

James (Norm) Evans passed on Jan 15, 2014. Norm was preceded in death by his wife Sue in 2006. They were married almost 60 years. Norm and Sue moved to Middletown with their two children, Gary and Gail, in 1951. Norm was a PG&E troubleshooter – a job that he loved. Norm was very active in the community. He was a volunteer fireman and member of the Fire Board, member and past president of the Middletown Luncheon Club, member and Past Worthy Patron of the Masonic Lodge, member of the Lion's Club, coached basketball and served on the school board. James (Norm) Evans passed on Jan 15, 2014. Norm was preceded in death by his wife Sue in 2006. They were married almost 60 years. Norm and Sue moved to Middletown with their two children, Gary and Gail, in 1951.
Norm was a PG&E troubleshooter – a job that he loved. Norm was very active in the community. He was a volunteer fireman and member of the Fire Board, member and past president of the Middletown Luncheon Club, member and Past Worthy Patron of the Masonic Lodge, member of the Lion's Club, coached basketball and served on the school board. Norm volunteered during the construction of the Middletown Pool and worked to build the original arena at Central Park as well as pouring sidewalks in downtown Middletown. He was also instrumental in bringing the original street lights to Middletown and cable TV to Anderson Springs.
He enjoyed his grandchildren's sports, gymkhana, rodeo and school activities. He and Sue traveled to High School rodeo events throughout California and attended the National Finals in Gillette, Wy.
Norm was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Hoberg Forest Lake Golf Club. Norm will always be remembered as a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor.
Norm is survived by his two children, Gary and Gail; 7 grandchildren, Cheryl, Greg, Sara, Keri, Tracey, John and Ashley and 14 great grandchildren; his fulltime caregiver of 8 years, Cheri Kemp and family that were a part of his life in later years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 1pm at the Middletown Methodist Church

Arrangements under the direction of Jones & Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel FD 800, Lower Lake, CA.
