My Uncle Jim taught me to LOVE books and how to read them when I was in grade school. He was my friend and mentor and took me to the river in Cut Bank to fish. He always treated me with respect and love. I am saddened by his passing but am also enriched by his having been part of my life.

I began my career at The University of Akron shortly before Jim Fee retired. But he stayed involved after hs retirement and could be counted on for good conversation. A gem of new information would bring a glint to his eye, a thoughtful pause, and usually a clever retort. I am fortunate to have known him.

The Association of the University of Akron Retirees is saddened by the loss of one of its charter members, Jim Fee, who served as its Membership Chairman for fourteen years. We miss his presence at our monthly Board meetings, and at lunch "with the gang" afterwards.
To me, he was always "Dr. Fee" rather than "Jim", because of the respect and high regard Akron students showed for him. Over the years we shared many students because he sent them to my human rights course and history classes. I think I even danced with him once at a graduate students' wedding reception back in the 1980s.
Dr. Fee will be sorely missed on our campus.
Sincerely, June K. Burton, Ph.D., L.L.D., President, AUAR

Professor Fee - a peace maker among a diverse group of educators and students. For me - the summer of 1981 will forever be in my memory - Theory of Group Dynamics - his real human efforts in teaching graduate students the value of listening, and learning the quality of empathy in a group setting. What more needs to be said? His notes are a part of my personal archives - as valuable now as they were 32 years ago. I am so happy his learned soul touched my life, truly.

I remember Dr. Fee as my instructor and my colleague at Akron - an inspiration to me as I continue teaching. And . . . we share the same birthday, too. God bless you all, and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Jan and Family,
My heart is broken for you since the loss of your Dad. I know how very happy you were to have him living here with you in Memphis and how much you both enjoyed each others company. What a blessing you were to him and he was to you and your family. Cherish the sweet times you had sharing Jordan and Jackson with him. You are a wonderful daughter and I know he was so very proud of you and all you and Doug and kids did to make him feel at home. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Nancy Barnett

So sorry to hear about Jim. Ruth and Jim were such loyal supporters of the Akron Symphony and Women's Guild. It was my pleasure to work with them both.

To the entire Fee Family:
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I had the great fortune to have classes with Jim back in the 1980s, and he was a great influence on me.
I was even happier a few years back when I came to work at The University of Akron and got to see Jim every once in a while. Nothing would brighten my day more than to stop by the office and find that he was in the house, creating havoc and disappearing with a wink.
God bless...
