Obituary

James R. Hanbey, born April 14, 1924 in Tacoma, WA, passed away on April 24, 2014, in Arlington, WA. He was the great-grandson of Robert Weedin, Civil War Veteran and Green Lake Pioneer. After graduating from Lincoln High in Seattle, Jim enlisted in the Navy and served during WWII, spending two years in the Pacific Theater. When he returned, he attended the University of Washington and upon graduation, worked 35 years for the Corps of Engineers, working on many major projects along the Snake and Columbia rivers. Jim is survived by his three sons: Doug Hanbey of Tacoma, Glenn Hanbey and his wife, Shari of Auburn, WA, and Fred Hanbey of Marysville, WA; and grandchildren, Devon, Lance and Logan. Jim is reunited in death with his loving wife Bernice Hanbey. Jim will be buried with military honors on May 5, 2014 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA. at 11:30 am
