Obituary

Mr. James D "Jim" Harris, age 89 of Colorado City, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 in a Boerne care center. Services will be at 2 PM Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jesse Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the Westbrook Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Mr. Harris was born October 20, 1924 in Vernon, Texas to Robert L and Mary Bernice Crow Harris and had been a longtime resident. He married Ona Mae Brown on December 31, 1949 in Midland. Mr. Harris was born October 20, 1924 in Vernon, Texas to Robert L and Mary Bernice Crow Harris and had been a longtime resident. He married Ona Mae Brown on December 31, 1949 in Midland. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2014. He was an operator and in the maintenance department of Texas Electric for many years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army during WWII where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
He is survived by 4 daughters: Sarah Butts of Grand Prairie, TX, Rhonda and husband, Mike Powell of Stamford, TX, Deniese and husband, T C Love of Fredericksburg, TX and Jamie and husband, Jeff Jacobs of San Antonio, TX; a son, Jimmy and wife Ellen Harris of Brookshire, TX; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, James Bryan Powell; a son-in-law, Ben Butts; 2 brothers: Jack Harris and Tommy Harris; and 2 sisters: Mary Jo Harris and Anita Harris.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be Made to the First United Methodist Church.
