Scott Ivers, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2012. He was born on June 3, 1965. Scott was beloved husband of Tammy (nee: Bennett). Devoted father of Axel and Erin. Cherished son of Dave and Nancy Ivers. Dear brother of Amy (Tim) Meier. Son-in-law of Maryann Makowski. Brother-in-law of James and Sue Bennett. He is also survived by many other loving family members. Scott was employed by the Detroit City Water Board and was a 25 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a gentle man with a giving nature who donated his time and resources to social justice organizations. As an avid sports fan, Scott found great joy in his children's sporting activities. He will be remembered as a man who loved and supported Detroit, visiting Belle Isle as often as he could. Most of all, Scott enjoyed being with those he cherished the most, his loving family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, 1345 Gratiot Ave., Detroit. Scott's family will receive visitors at 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to The Ivers Children Educational Trust at any Chase Bank location. Condolences and remembrances may be shared with Scott's family at his online guest book.

I lived 2 doors down from Scott and his family for a couple of years and our boys played Little League baseball together in G.P.P. Scott always made of point of saying hello as he walked his dog down the street or, anytime I happened to see him at the ball park. I always thought he was a warmhearted individual and I saw firsthand how much he enjoyed interacting with his kids. I was very saddened to hear this news and wish to extend my condolences to the Ivers family. May God bless you all with the strength to carry on.

This message goes out to Dave and Nancy...you see I have the pleasure of working as a colleague of Dave's at the Greater Kalamazoo United Way. My message to you both as a parent and a friend is that sometimes life puts us in places we pray never to have to tread. When those times are upon us we need to remember that we are NOT alone. Look around the room you are in and you will see love, support, caring, and those who want you to know that they are there for you. Since I have been provided with a team of Angels I am sending a couple your way. I will pray for you to find strength in the weak moments, peace in the chaotic moments, and patience for the time this mountain will take to climb. Just know that I am not alone in my prayers for you and the rest of the family. Keep your faith and stay strong.

Tammy, Axel, and Erin,
We were so shocked and saddened to hear about Scott's passing. I remember like yesterday when Erin and Izzy were in Kindergarten together. It was such a fun, special time. Where has the last decade gone?! You were always such a fun, friendly family. I hated to see you move, but I remember you were so generous to invite us to your new home and also to the pool. The kids will always have awesome memories of their fun, hands-on parents and close-knit, loving family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
