Pastor Jimmy Jones, age 72, of Jarrell, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. He was born in Houston, Texas on January 3, 1940 to parents Ira Jones and Dorothy (Casey) Jones. Pastor Jones served multiple pastorates during 50 years in ministry in Texas and California before returning to his beloved Austin, Texas area to enjoy the golden years of his life. Pastor Jones served multiple pastorates during 50 years in ministry in Texas and California before returning to his beloved Austin, Texas area to enjoy the golden years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dayna Jones of Jarrell, Texas; son, Pastor Darren Jones and his wife Edwina and their children Lindsey, River and Brooklynn of Georgetown, Texas; son, Loren Jones and his son Gentry of Jarrell, Texas; daughter-in-law, Misti Jones and her daughter Madison of Houston, Texas; and four sisters, Helen Burchett, Billie Hill, Bobbie Macey and Omega McCracken, all of Houston, Texas.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 13, 2012 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Christian Life Church in Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be at 12 Noon on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Theobald, Casey Jones, Brandon Macey, Sherrill Hill, Joel Bean and Steve Lee.
