James Medina, 51, of Deer Park, TX passed away Tuesday May 19th 2015. He was born in Houston on March 22, 1964 to parents Emilio and Dolores Medina. James graduated from South Houston High School. While in school he was known among his friends for his carefree attitude and his charming smile. One friend recalls a time years after school when he ran into James at an Astros game. He says that he heard someone yelling his name and looked up to see James and his unmistakable smile. James then ran over to him and gave him a big ol' neck hug. It's moments like these that truly embody who James was as a person. He married Terri Knight Medina on August 30th 1986. James and Terri met in high school, where he was known as the studly jock and Terri was the radical misfit. In this case, opposites do attract and they have been together ever since. After he completed his education, James began his career at Oxy Vinyl where he worked for 27 years. At his work, James was known for his lighthearted humor, intelligence, and drive for constant knowledge. Early in his career James was promoted to Head Operator which pushed him to work even harder. To many people James was the hardest working person they knew. If James was not at work, he would be found reading, exercising, or spending time with his wife and children. He is survived by his wife Terri as well as his children Jacob, Cassie, Marissa, and Tyler. In addition he will be missed by his grandchildren Alexis and Ember, his mother Dolores, and his sister Hope. James was also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all who will miss him terribly. For his family, his affection will be missed on a daily basis. A kiss on the cheek or a squeeze of the hand. All the little things that said, "I love you". A quote from one of James' favorite movies, Blade Runner, "The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And you have burned so very, very brightly". All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral home. Address: 21620 gulf freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 26th from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral will be on Wednesday, May 27th at 3pm. The service will be held in their chapel. The burial will follow the services on the same property, a short walk away.

I've worked with Dino for the last 11 years. His confidence, courage, tenacity, and intelligence was incredible. He had a huge, caring heart. He lived life hard and was a truly unique person. He always had an opinion. Dino's laughter from the DCS control room would echo through the building. His hard work ethic set the bar high for others. He lead by example and was always the person wanted at the plant when there was an unresolved problem. He never encountered a plant problem that defeated him nor intimidated him. Anything that appeared to be a problem, he wanted to immediately defeat. A strong offense was his mode. He made an un-matched impact here at the Battleground plant, with his ideas and knowledge of the plant. He knew the Liquefaction area like no other. The jobs of those that follow him at the plant will be easier due to his ideas and the projects that he spurred. James was also a good friend. I will miss texting/ talking to him almost daily over the last few years. May God reach His hand out to Dino's family giving them peace and guidance for the future. We love you!

Man is born with his hands clenched, but his are open in death, because on entering the world he desires to grasp everything, but on leaving, he takes nothing away. Love you always! God Bless you and your dear Family, may God guide the family everyday.

I always loved James for his kindness and humor. The conversations we've had when I visited often left me in stiches. But the best part is how James is how he always treated me like family One of the most generous open-hearted people you'll ever meet... My heart goes out to the Medina family for their loss.

One of the best Head Operators I ever worked with. He was the one you wanted on shift when things were upset. He made my job enjoyable and I will miss his smile, laugh and his constant call for warranty work on the instruments.

Sending condolences to the whole of Medina family members. Growing up in our old neighborhood on Pine Street and being the next door neighbor of this young man's grandparents was learning how to grow up as family. It looks like he learned all his lessons well from all the wonderful comments. May he rest in peace.

I sure hope the big man upstairs is ready for James, because he was a handful to be sure. I've known James the for all his years at Oxy, and to be sure he was the most interesting person I've ever met. From his smile, his knowledge on a lot of subjects to that high pitched laugh of his, he will be truly missed. See ya buddy!
