James "Bud" Milton Midkiff, age 85, of Mobile went to be with Jesus on May 11, 2012. He was born August 29, 1926 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. James was a charter member of Travis Road Baptist Church and later was a deacon at First Baptist Tillman's Corner. James was an inspiration to many people throughout his life. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Dolores Chastain, his mother and father, Elizabeth Watson and James Midkiff, a sister, Mildred Powell, and a son, Gerald Wayne Johnston. James "Bud" Milton Midkiff, age 85, of Mobile went to be with Jesus on May 11, 2012. He was born August 29, 1926 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. James was a charter member of Travis Road Baptist Church and later was a deacon at First Baptist Tillman's Corner. James was an inspiration to many people throughout his life.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Dolores Chastain, his mother and father, Elizabeth Watson and James Midkiff, a sister, Mildred Powell, and a son, Gerald Wayne Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Maioma "June" Slaton Johnston Midkiff, Mobile, a sister, Ernestine, "Ernie" Vanderwaal, a brother, Edwin, "Ed" (Vasco) Midkiff, a daughter, Carolyn "Callie" (John) Goodrum, Mobile, a son, Gary (Pam) Midkiff, Nevada, a son, Dennis Midkiff, Georgia, a daughter, Deborah (Terry) Masters, Arkansas, a son, John (Lavonia) Midkiff, Mobile, a son Paul (Angela) Midkiff, Hoover, Alabama, a son, Gene (Pat) Johnston, Mobile, a son, David (Linda) Johnston, Dothan, Alabama, and a daughter, Joyce (Marty) Calvert, Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM from First Baptist Church Tillman's Corner with Rev. Dr. Greg Pouncey officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Bud's family wants to express their love and appreciation to the Odyssey Hospice and Home Instead Staff for all of their love and support though this difficult time, including a very special thank you to Beth, Jennifer, Rosalyn, Leila, Valerie, Deanna, and Annethaie for everything you have done. God bless all of you.
