Jimmy was best friend and cherished husband of Gail Palmer (Smith) for 60 years. He is also survived by his five children Christine Hart (Michio Soga), Patricia Papa (the late Edward), James F. Nick, III, Deborah Meyer (Robert), Stephen M. (Margaret) and his 14 grandchildren, Jason Hart, Sara Hart (Maxime Turgeon), Brendan Hart, Michelle Papa, Margaret Papa, Elizabeth Simons (Andrew), Kathleen Papa, James F. Nick, IV, Megan Meyer, Annie Oneal (Kevin), Christine Meyer, Eileen Meyer, Stephen M. Nick, Jr., and Amanda Nick.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was a graduate of Fordham University (1951) and was a 50-year member of the New York Stock Exchange at J. F. Nick & Co. He was a member of St. William Parish, Nassau Country Club, The Sea Island Club and was a 65-year member of the New York Athletic Club. Jimmy was a lifelong and avid fan of the New York Giants and Boston Red Sox. He was a ranked squash player and fine golfer. He will be missed by many dear and loving friends, both near and far. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 31, 2012 from 7PM until 9 PM at St. William Catholic Church, St. Simons Island, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. William Parish, 2300 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, GA 31522, or the American Cancer Society.
