James Bonner Nye, 71, of Sparta, passed away May 16, 2013 at Morristown Medical Center.
Born in Paris, TX, he grew up in Fort Worth. After completing college in Texas, he pursued a career in educational publishing that took him to several states over the years.

He was a member of the vestry of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, as well as a trustee of the Sparta Education Foundation.
He became active in politics as well, serving as the Democratic candidate for State Assembly in 2011. At the time of his death, he was the Sparta municipal chair for the party, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Sussex County Democratic Committee and on the Democratic 24th District 2013 Campaign Committee.
At home, he was a voracious reader who handled all the family's gardening.
A memorial service will be held Sat., May 25, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Sparta.
Survivors include his wife, Ilse Wolfe; daughters Aliya and Ellis Wolfe-Nye, at home; two brothers, Erle, of Dallas, and Benjamin, of Winston-Salem, NC; three sons, Jim Goldsworthy, of Gainesville, TX; Mark Goldsworthy, of Salem, OR; and Benjamin Nye, Plano, TX; a daughter, Michele Aguilera, of Oklahoma City, OK; and nine grandchildren.

To the Nye family,
I am deeply saddened with your loss. Jim was a gentleman and became a friend at Cloveberry. He had the art of conversation into deep and complex subjects. Jim was a caring man who loved his family and Sparta. May God grant you His peace that passes all understanding.

My prayers are with you Ilse and your girls. Bonner and I emailed often, more than weekly and have just recently started talking about planning a 55th reunion for our class from North Side High School in Fort Worth, Texas. It is so hard ot accept the idea that he is gone. May God give you comfort during this very difficult time.

My heart is sadden about Bonner. We were six when we met and considered each other as each others oldest friend. I know he was living his favorite chapter in his life time. All his Fort Worth friends are thinking of him with fond memories.

A former coworker of Jim's in Indianapolis, I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy to his family. I will miss our occasional posts. We've kept in touch since the mid 80s and I am very much aware of his love for Ilse ad the girls.
