James M. Peak, 89, of Rock Island, IL passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center Rock Island Campus. Funeral services will be 4:30PM Tuesday, March 6 at the Hodgson Funeral Home Rock Island. Visitation will be just prior to the service and burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. James M. Peak was born June 29, 1922, in Aledo, IL to William O. & Ella Peak. He resided there until after his mother's death when he was in grade school. Then Jim and his younger brother, Donald, were placed in the Kentucky Baptist Children's Home, Elizabethtown, KY where they stayed until graduation from high school.

Jim then returned to Rock Island and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII and the Korean War. On August 27, 1945 he was united in marriage to Helen Kohler in Rock Island. Following his discharge from the Navy, Jim worked as an electrician for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co. and later worked 25 years for the Ralston-Purina Co. in Davenport, retiring in 1984.

Jim was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island and had served the congregation in a number of capacities. He was an avid gardener and was an active member of the local garden & rose society. Jim & Helen were members of the QC Plus 60 and had enjoyed a number of trips with the group.

Jim is survived by his wife, Helen, two sisters-in-law and a number of nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & 3 brothers, William O. III, Donald, & Frank.
