Jim Peratt Jim Peratt, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday July 7, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1927 in Elkhart, Illinois, the son of Hobart and Corina Sullivan Peratt. He married Martha Caskey on April 18, 1954 in Springfield and she preceded him in death in August of 1988. He is survived by his son Kevin Peratt and his daughter Laura (husband Mike) Blankenship both of Springfield, two brothers: Burl (wife Mary) Peratt and George "Freeman" Peratt, two sisters: Nell McGrath and Alma DuMont, one granddaughter Jenny Danna, three great-grandchildren: Cody Prosperini, Julia Danna, and Logan Blankenship...

Jim Peratt, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday July 7, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. He was born on August 21, 1927 in Elkhart, Illinois, the son of Hobart and Corina Sullivan Peratt. He married Martha Caskey on April 18, 1954 in Springfield and she preceded him in death in August of 1988.

He is survived by his son Kevin Peratt and his daughter Laura (husband Mike) Blankenship both of Springfield, two brothers: Burl (wife Mary) Peratt and George "Freeman" Peratt, two sisters: Nell McGrath and Alma DuMont, one granddaughter Jenny Danna, three great-grandchildren: Cody Prosperini, Julia Danna, and Logan Blankenship and his special companion Carolyn Cervellone. He was preceded in death by his brothers: John, Tom, Carl, and Garrett, and one grandson Michael Blankenship.

Jim was a US Navy veteran serving in World War II and upon his honorable discharge began his professional career as a welder with Fiat Allis in Springfield retiring after 34 years of service. Jim was a member of the VFW Northenders Post #10302, he enjoyed bowling, country dancing, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bears, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jim and his wife were members of Woodside Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday July 14, 2012 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen St., with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. The family will meet friends from 9:30am until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home and memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
