Captain James Arthur Rindin, Sr., USN, retired, was a member of America's greatest generation. He was born on 08 May 1926 in Williamstown, PA, the son of Maxwell Arthur Rindin and Florence Amelia Skelton Rindin. He enlisted in the United States Navy days before his 18th birthday and just prior to his graduation from Boardman High School, Boardman OH. During World War II, he served in the Pacific as a Sonarman 3rd Class aboard the USS Cony. He came home to marry Marie Theresa Johnson on 25 November 1948 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown, OH. He earned a Psychology degree from Mount Union College, OH, and returned to...
Captain James Arthur Rindin, Sr., USN, retired, was a member of America's greatest generation. He was born on 08 May 1926 in Williamstown, PA, the son of Maxwell Arthur Rindin and Florence Amelia Skelton Rindin. He enlisted in the United States Navy days before his 18th birthday and just prior to his graduation from Boardman High School, Boardman OH. During World War II, he served in the Pacific as a Sonarman 3rd Class aboard the USS Cony. He came home to marry Marie Theresa Johnson on 25 November 1948 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown, OH. He earned a Psychology degree from Mount Union College, OH, and returned to service as a young ASW officer aboard the USS Porterfield in the Korean War. His decorations included the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with Bronze Star, the Korean Service Ribbon with (2) Bronze Stars, the China Service Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Ribbon.


Jim had a successful 25-year career in sales with the Republic Steel Corporation. He became a private pilot, was an "early adapter" to anything new or technology-related, and remained active in the Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. In his wake, he leaves his wife, Marie, of 64 years; a brother, Charles A. Rindin, of Boardman, OH; (3) sons, James A. Rindin, Jr.(Pinata) of Collierville, TN, Jeffrey Rindin (KimAnn) of Annapolis, MD, and Jonathan Rindin of Memphis, TN; and (4) grandchildren, Chris, Jessie, Lola, and Max.
