James Harold Tawney passed away on January 27, 2014. The cause of death was Chronic Obstruct Pulmonary Disease.
He was born January 25, 1933 in Logan, West Virginia and eventually settled in Lanexa, Virginia. Throughout his life he served in the US Army, worked as a coal miner and served as a Federal Mine Inspector. He was a member of the Danville Church of Christ, as well as the Williamsburg, Virginia Church of Christ.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Josephine Tawney; his four daughters, Deborah Reid (husband – James T), Linda Dodson (husband – Robbin), JoElla Cifers (husband – Gary), and Amanda Smith (Husband – Steve). He was also a proud grandfather of 12 grand children and 9 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his son James H. Tawney Jr., and granddaughter Nicole Smith.
Graveside Services will be held at Memory Garden Cemetery in Madison, West Virginia; arrangements to be handled by Handley Funeral Home.
