James Carl Teachout, July 29, 1945 – May 9, 2014 James Carl Teachout, 68 of Lakeland, Fl. Formerly of Schenevus, NY Died on Tuesday May 9. 2014 at his home after a short illness. Jim was born July 29, 1945 to Oscar and Dorthea (Detwiler) Teachout in Oneonta NY. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968 as a machine gunner. He then went to work for the Otsego County NY Highway Department until his retirement. He loved to be outside hunting or fishing when he had time. James Carl Teachout, 68 of Lakeland, Fl. Formerly of Schenevus, NY Died on Tuesday May 9. 2014 at his home after a short illness.
Jim was born July 29, 1945 to Oscar and Dorthea (Detwiler) Teachout in Oneonta NY.
He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968 as a machine gunner. He then went to work for the Otsego County NY Highway Department until his retirement.
He loved to be outside hunting or fishing when he had time. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 2752 in Schenevus, as well as a member of Masonic Lodge #592.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth A. (Stephen) Vogelsang of Mexico, NY and their children Sara and Michael; Son James M. Teachout of Chesapeake, Va. and his daughters Shelby and Emily; Sister Barbara (Steve)Strickland of Lakeland Fl.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Oscar and Dorthea; brothers William and Jeffery.
