Obituary

James Edward Wright, known as "Ed" died November 13, 2013 at Kirby Pines Estates. He was born November 24, 1923 in Falkner, MS to Luther Pearce and Mabry Carter Wright. He graduated from Falkner's High School and finished one year at Northwest College in Senatobia, MS before volunteering for the U.S. Army Air Force (later became the U.S. Air Force) He served during WWII and also the Korean War Conflict. He attained the rank of Captain. When Ed got out active service in 1946 he went to work for Standard Parts Co. (NAPA). He also stayed in the Air Force Reserves. James Edward Wright, known as "Ed" died November 13, 2013 at Kirby Pines Estates. He was born November 24, 1923 in Falkner, MS to Luther Pearce and Mabry Carter Wright.

He graduated from Falkner's High School and finished one year at Northwest College in Senatobia, MS before volunteering for the U.S. Army Air Force (later became the U.S. Air Force) He served during WWII and also the Korean War Conflict. He attained the rank of Captain.

When Ed got out active service in 1946 he went to work for Standard Parts Co. (NAPA). He also stayed in the Air Force Reserves. He married Edna Evelyn Ramsey on April 4, 1951, who also worked for Standard Parts Company. Ed was recalled to active duty in the U.S. Air Force, during the Korean War Conflict. When he got home he returned to Standard Parts Company until January 1, 1962, when he and Edna bought two NAPA auto parts stores in Arkansas. Where they lived until 2008 when they returned to Memphis.

Ed was an active member of Helena First Baptist Church, Helena, Arkansas where he is still a member. He was also a member of Helena Rotary Club for almost 50 years and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He was a thirty –second degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved his home, family, friends, church, community and served well in many capacities for each.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Luther P. and Mabry C. Wright; three brothers, Robert Lee of Memphis, John C. of Flint, MI ; L. Perry of Southaven, MS; one sister Nella Tapp of Memphis, TN.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 15,2013 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Chapel from 5 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.
