ALEXANDER, Mrs. Jane Jordan, age 88 of Chattanooga, TN, born and raised in Franklin, TN passed away April 29, 2012 in Franklin, TN. Daughter of the late Bob & Grace Jordan. During her youth, Jane was a competitive pianist under the tutelage of Miss Mary Pope, ribbon winning member of the 4-H Club, having won enough prizes to finance her college education at the University of Tennessee. She was elected Tennessee Dairy Queen, and competed in the national contest. Jane became the first Registered Microbiologist in Chattanooga and is on the National Registry of Microbiologist and the American Society for Medical Technologists. After retirement from the supervisory position of the Bacteriology Department at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Jane continued volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, the Chattanooga Aquarium and was an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Choir.

Preceded in death by husband, Edward Ford "Eddie" Alexander, Sr. Survived by son, Edward Ford (Kathy) Alexander, Jr. of Athens, AL; daughter, Pam Reed of Brentwood, TN; sister, Ophelia (Fleming) Williams of Lyles, TN; grandchildren, Alexis Sims, Farris Reed, Jennifer Leland & Michael Alexander; great grandchildren, Merritt Sims, Madison & Megan Leland, Owen & McKinley Alexander and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 7:00PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church with visitation from 6-7PM in Memorial Hall, Rev. Sally Hughes & Rev. Will Berger officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
