Jane Repko East Lansing, MI After a long battle with cancer, Jane Repko, East Lansing, MI, met her God and left this life on August 28, 2014. She was 75. Jane freely gave her energy, spirit and kindness to one and all, including her colleagues at Lansing Community College and Michigan State University, congregation members of St. John's Church in East Lansing, MI, and especially her immediate family, extended family and the multitude of students whose lives she touched. After a long battle with cancer, Jane Repko, East Lansing, MI, met her God and left this life on August 28, 2014. She was 75. Jane freely gave her energy, spirit and kindness to one and all, including her colleagues at Lansing Community College and Michigan State University, congregation members of St. John's Church in East Lansing, MI, and especially her immediate family, extended family and the multitude of students whose lives she touched.

Born in New York, NY on July 13, 1939, Jane grew up in Manhattan, Queens and the cities of Plainfield and Westfield in Union County, NJ. She graduated from Mount St. Mary's Academy, and Duquesne University. While attending graduate school at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, she met Wayne, her husband for more than 48 years. In East Lansing, MI, Jane continued her graduate studies at Michigan State University. She taught and tutored countless students in mathematics, chemistry, microbiology, and physics. She was an active member of the Michigan Education Association and served as a union representative for many years. Jane was also a long-time member of the St. John-St. Thomas 5% committee.

Jane is preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Frances McAlvanah; and brothers, Tom and Kevin.

Surviving to cherish Jane's memory are husband Wayne; 2 daughters, Mary Frances, Biza and her husband Chris Turner; 2 sons, William and his wife Brandy Johnson, and Christopher Newman and his wife Colleen; sister, Sue Morusiewicz and her husband Frank of Sarasota, FL, and brother, Michael McAlvanah and his wife Nina of Arnaudville, LA.

A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at St. John's Church, 327 M.A.C. Ave., East Lansing, MI, 48823. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make contributions in Jane's memory may do so to the following: the Jane Repko scholarship fund c/o the Lansing Community College Foundation, Washington Court Place, 309 N. Washington Square, Suite 201, Lansing, MI, 48933 to support women in the science disciplines; or, the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. John's Church to support the food bank she helped to establish.
