Janet Quintin Adams (American Jan), of Englewood, Fl., died January 6, 2012. Jan's death was preceded by her son Timothy Adams. Survivors include her partner of 31 years,
Jan Leather (English Jan), sister in-law Elaine Quintin of Estero, Fl, son Daniel Adams and his partner Merle Gabrino of Brattleboro, Vt., son Scott Adams and his wife Eileen of Keene, N.H., daughter Julie Sulinski and her husband Steve of Englewood, Fl., and daughter Mickey Gallagher and her partner Karen Milch of Northampton, MA. Surviving grandchildren include Sarah and Matthew Adams, Cara Blue and Lisa Adams, Jennifer, Jason and his wife Heather Adams , and Kelsey Sulinski. Jan was also a foster grandmother to Tiffany Jordan and Tyrese Jordan Cox and great grandmother to Keenan McKenney and Nevaya DeLatorre, and a very special lady to her family in England.
Throughout her life and up to her last moments, Jan was a loving, kind, considerate and witty person. While raising her 5 children and working full time as an LPN, Jan attended UNH successfully graduating with the first nursing baccalaureate class. Jan also had the distinction of being a pioneer of primary nursing care at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Brattleboro, Vt.
Jan traveled extensively throughout her life and spent nearly three years in Saudi Arabia as an intensive care unit nurse. She spent the last 30 years of her life in the Englewood, Fl. area enjoying family and friends, music and sunsets.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held Sunday January 15th 1:00 p.m. at the Englewood Gardens Club, 2560 North Beach Road, Englewood, Fl.
In lieu of flowers guests are asked to consider lighting a candle in her honor.Arrangements under the direction of National Cremation & Burial Society, Sarasota, FL.
