Janet Claire Bauer age 77 passed away on January 16, 2013. Loving wife of Norman, they married in 1959. Dearest mother of Reyne (Anthony) Nowicki, Joyce Bauer, Doris Lynn (Dewayne) Crabtree, and Beverly Claire Bauer. Janet is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, siblings Leonard (Joanne) Hamel of Florida, and Alice (Sam) Moceri of Michigan. A memorial visitation will be Tuesday January 22, 2013 from 3-8pm at Resurrection Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2012 at 11:00am with visitation from 10:30am until time of service at St. Malachy Church 14115 E. 14 Mile Sterling Heights MI...

Janet Claire Bauer was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Janet will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

She was the daughter of Adolph and Claire Hamel. Janet was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in both Boston, Massachusetts and Detroit, Michigan.

Janet was raised with four siblings. She had three brothers, Leonard, Gerald, and Edgar, and one sister, Alice. Janet was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

As a young girl, Janet had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Janet was an active child who took part in softball. In her spare time she. Janet's memorable achievements included. However, to Janet, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.

Janet earned her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Wayne County Community College.

Always considered a "good" friend to those she knew, Janet enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, she was best friends with her brother Jerry. Later in life, she became friends with Christine, Kate, Sheila, Rosemary and Joanne.

On May 2, 1959 Janet married Norman Bauer at St.John Berchman Church of Detroit, Michigan. Empathic and loyal, Janet was committed to making her new family happy.

Janet worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Janet was blessed with four daughters, Reyne, Joyce, Doris, Beverly. Another blessing for Janet was the gift of 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Janet enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were painting pictures and crocheting. When she was younger she was a real social butterfly and she loved to go dancing with her brother Jerry.

Throughout her life, Janet was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout her later years, Janet was a volunteer for St. John Hospice in Michigan and then later for South Lake Hospice in Florida.

Janet's faith was important to her. She was a member of St. John Berchmans and St. Raymond's.

Though she never set out to gain individual recognition, Janet was given accolades for her many and varied accomplishments throughout her life. Some of her most prestigious awards included being named as Hospice Volunteer of the Year in 1998.

Janet enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included her many Caribbean cruises and a cruise to northern Europe.

Janet was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Tuffy, a domestic black cat. They were best friends for 21 years. Her family was rounded out by her cat, Boots and Dennis her dog.

When Janet's retirement finally arrived in 1999 from Grand Coach Limo Service., she was well prepared. Her new life involved relocating to Clermont, Florida. In retirement, she found new pleasure in learning to oil paint. Even in retirement, Janet continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Janet was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her.

Janet passed away on January 16, 2013 at her daughter Reyne's home in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Janet passed away from End Stage Alzheimer's Disease. She is survived by her husband Norman, daughters, Reyne (Anthony) Nowicki, Joyce Bauer, Doris Lynn (Dewayne) Crabtree, and Beverly Claire Bauer. Janet is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, siblings Leonard (Joanne) Hamel of Florida, and Alice (Sam) Moceri of Michigan. Services were held at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan on January 23, 2013. Janet was laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Simply stated, Janet was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Janet leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Janet Claire Bauer.
