Janice Elaine Hoffman Lipsitz died peacefully December 15, 2012 at her Chesterfield home after a prolonged illness. She was 85 years old. Kind, thoughtful, loving wife for 65 years of Robert J. Lipsitz. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of William (Malu) Lipsitz, the late Joan Lipsitz Fried, Nancy Stein, Larry (Lynne Moeller) Lipsitz and Lisa (Robert) Fulsom. Janice Elaine Hoffman Lipsitz died peacefully December 15, 2012 at her Chesterfield home after a prolonged illness. She was 85 years old. Kind, thoughtful, loving wife for 65 years of Robert J. Lipsitz. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of William (Malu) Lipsitz, the late Joan Lipsitz Fried, Nancy Stein, Larry (Lynne Moeller) Lipsitz and Lisa (Robert) Fulsom. Dear Nana of Melissa (Sam) Neuhut and Joey Lipsitz, Ari and Hannah Fried, Michael and David Stein, Julie (William) Cassin and Jason Lipsitz, Sabrina and Alana Fulsom. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Helen (the late Raymond) Sandler, Edith (the late Leon) Davidson, the late Stanley (Dorothy) Hoffman. Dear sister-in-law of the late Dr. Ellis (the late Edith) and the late Abe (Marion) Lipsitz. Our dear aunt, cousin and friend. Forever in our hearts. The family is very grateful to her care givers for the past year.

Mrs. Lipsitz was born on May 22, 1927 in Newton, MA. Her father owned a silent picture movie house in Newton, until the talkies after which he moved his family to Los Angeles to work with his brother-in law, Louis B. Mayer of MGM Studios. Janice was the niece of Mr. Mayer, and cousin of David Selznick, producer of "Gone With The Wind". Janice had a short career in movies before moving to St. Louis. Growing up in Santa Monica, she was neighbors with Shirley Temple and Elzie Segar, the creator of "Popeye The Sailor Man" , who used to draw picture cartoons for her. She graduated from Santa Monica High School and went to UCLA for a short time before moving to St. Louis. She met her beloved husband, Robert, while he was stationed in Fresno, CA, before being shipped off to Europe during WW II.

Funeral service Monday, December 17th,11:00 AM at BERGER MEMORIAL CHAPEL, McPherson at Walton. No visitation prior to service. Private interment.
