Janice Hutchison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2017.

Janice Nona Hutchison passed away Friday May 12, 2017 peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends in her own home, in her own timing after a long illness. Her passing was paved with love and endearing care from some very special, dear people.

Jann was known for her courageous and kind spirit, her artistry, her extreme love for family near and far, and for her passion for all things pertaining to God and Country. Her life was one of service, creativity, compassion and a love story that will warm our memories of her throughout our time here as we hold her in our hearts.

She is survived by Thomas Hutchison, her devoted and loving husband of 44 years. She also leaves behind two children from her first marriage and 3 step children, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her younger brother John, her sister Jerrie, and her step daughter Annette.

"Jann" was born Janice Nona Watson in Idaho Falls on March 17, 1944. She was the 2nd daughter of Norman Albert Watson and Nona Sarah Wadsworth. She spent her early childhood in Rexburg, Idaho with her sister Jerrie and two younger brothers, John and Kent. Her family owned a bakery in Rexburg. She was once stuck in the freezer of the bakery for hours. She talks about feeling warm even though she should have been freezing. This and many other sacred experiences paved her walk with God her whole life.

The family moved to Logan, Utah when she was a freshman in high school.

Jann married at the young age of 19 in Logan. Two children were born under this union, Robert Max (b. 1964) and Angela (b.1966). By the age of 25 she was a single mother, attending the Utah State University in Interior Design, and was working to support her children.

Jann was courted by Tom Hutchison long distance from Twin Falls in 1973. He soon moved her and her children to his home by the Snake River Canyon after a beautiful outdoor wedding in Logan Canyon, July 14, 1973. The couple began a new life for Jann and her children in Twin Falls that included outdoor life, entrepreneurship, and a love of animals and healthy living. The couple worked together in designing and building homes throughout the valley through the 70's, 80's and early 90's. They owned a business together on Blue Lakes Blvd called Design Enterprises in the early 80's. Jann entered into real estate in 1984 and worked for Western Realty until she opened her own real estate office, Alpine Realty, in 1989.

She designed the playground for Harrison Elementary in 1974 and worked on the installation of it with her family and community volunteers.
Through the mid 90's, she teamed with prominent community members to raise funds for the original Valley House, Twin Falls' homeless shelter. She and many others pooled their energy to bring about funding for the first extension of units of the shelter, while her husband spearheaded the construction.

Jann traipsed alongside Tom through the Sawtooths in search of mountain bounty. They took their children on adventures through the wonderlands of wild Idaho, backpacking, camping, fishing, boating, and hunting in the great Sawtooth wilderness. Tom and Jann actively supported the Boy Scout program through the years.

Jann's work in extraction and genealogy over the years yielded volumes of family history for her and many other families, with lines traced back centuries, all documented. Every soul mattered to Jann, living or passed. She will be remembered as a fiercely loving and independent dark-haired beauty. She loved hiking, gardening, riding, decorating, and giving with unshakeable faith, with her singing, guitar-playing mountain man at her side throughout the years to the very last moment of her life. Her family is at peace knowing of her glorious entrance into her paradise and the reunions taking place above.

Jann's end of life ceremony will be held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the LDS Birch Street Chapel at 222 Birch Street, Kimberly Idaho. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. that morning. The graveside service will be on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, Utah. Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls.

The family would like to extend the warmest of gratitude to Jann's end-of-life caretakers: Kelly, Christian, and Ruthanne. You are three earth angels that lit her pathway into Heaven.

"Through it all, love remains."

I managed her office at Alpine Realty and considered her and Tom good friends. I was shocked and saddened by the news of her passing. May Father welcome her with open arms.

Jann, was a loving, beautiful, and kind sister. I will forever remember the first day we met in NYC. Nervous because I wanted her to be proud of her little sister, not realizing she would love me unconditionally. My condolences to the family and all that knew her. Jann will live on in our thoughts, prayers, and memories.

Tom I was so sorry to hear of Jann's passing but was so fortunate to see her in Mar/Apr. Amazes me how time passes and changes but the spirit of a person doesn't change. I am so glad I've had the opportunity in my life to meet a handful of absolutely special people you Jann and Susan are among the few. Ann Marie(Pat and Donna Wallace daughter.)
