Jason Borage, who was known to many in Middle Georgia as DJ Jason Hawk on Q106.3, passed away at his Macon residence Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was 35. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19 at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Macon with the Rev. Jimmy Towson officiating.
Jason was born Aug. 25, 1981, in Lubbock, Texas, to Clarence and Stephanie Borage. His family later moved to Colorado, where he spent much of his young life, went to college and began a career in radio. Jason moved to Macon in 2006, ultimately landing a job with iHeartMedia, where he worked the last decade of his life.
Jason hosted trivia nights at restaurants across Macon, meeting his future wife, Jennifer, at El Azteca trivia the year he moved here. He DJ'ed weddings and hosted a pregame radio show for Mercer University football for several years while also helping out in the press box.
Jason loved football, whether it was college, pro or fantasy, and his favorite team was Texas Tech. He was a fan of all genres of music, amassing a collection of more than 5,000 CDs. He enjoyed playing poker and teaching others how to play as well. Games were always free. He wanted friendship, not money. Jason never met a stranger.
Above all, Jason loved his young daughter, Bethany.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer Borage; daughter, Bethany Borage; parents, Clarence and Stephanie Borage; sister, Stacey Borage; grandfather, Howard Haan; and numerous other friends, family and strangers who he touched through the radio or maybe even a Facebook post.
The family suggests that those who wish to make donations in Jason's memory do so to the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation, 20 Horseneck Lane, 2nd Floor, Greenwich, CT 06830. Donations also may be made online at fibrofoundation.org/donate.

My sincere condolences to Jason's family and friends. I collaborated with him on commercials along with a group of truly amazing producers at "Dusty's" via iHeart Media. It saddens me that such a fine talent has left us so soon. He will always be a source of inspiration for me to continue on and give what I can to help others even while challenged with whatever life deals us. We will all miss you Jason. Rest in Peace brother.

I worked with Jason in a voice share group with iHeartMedia. He often shared his vocals to use in our market in Virginia. Though we never met, he was always willing to give a helping hand and share his voice. I'm so very sad to hear of his loss and will lift his family up in prayer.

Though I never met Jason in person, he was an incredible friend through our iHeartMedia production group. He was always willing to lend a helping hand professionally, and it sounds like that was just the kind of giving soul he was to all who knew him personally. May prayers and comfort surround his family and friends. Rest in peace, Jason. The Dusty's family loves you!

A true icon for iheartmedia of Macon. I was lucky enough to work side by side with Jason for 10 years, learning and laughing with him. I'll always remember the day in February when I left wk for the final day, I gave him a high five and told him he will never be forgotten. And that's the truth because he touched so many lives!

Hey friend. We never met in person. But you lent me your talents when I needed them. I hope I said thank you enough. Hope I helped you enough. I didn't know what you were going through. And I'm sorry you only had a short time with us. You'll always be a part of "da family".

Jennifer and Family,
Words cannot express the loss I feel. We laughed, talked sports, worked side by side...late nights, weekends. One of the pillars of iHeartmedia Macon has been removed. The good news is...I know I will see him again...and there will be more laughter, and sports talk, without the work involved. My prayers go up for all of you.
