Obituary

Jay Hamlin Williams son of G. Jim and Vicki Williams passed away on August 17, 2014 due to the effects of colon cancer at the age of 54. He leaves behind the love of his life and best friend of 33 years, Susan Christiansen Williams. Jay and Susan were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children; Lacey (Jared) Nielson; Allison (Makay) Oakey; Ryan (Bethany) Williams; Aaron Williams, and 6 wonderful grandchildren. Jay graduated from Olympus High and the University of Utah. Jay Hamlin Williams son of G. Jim and Vicki Williams passed away on August 17, 2014 due to the effects of colon cancer at the age of 54. He leaves behind the love of his life and best friend of 33 years, Susan Christiansen Williams. Jay and Susan were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children; Lacey (Jared) Nielson; Allison (Makay) Oakey; Ryan (Bethany) Williams; Aaron Williams, and 6 wonderful grandchildren.

Jay graduated from Olympus High and the University of Utah. He served honorably in the New York Rochester Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a successful career but wanted to be remembered for his contributions to God, family, church and community.

In 2000, Jay and Susan moved their family to Pickerington Ohio. For 10 years they became intertwined with the people, the schools, and the community which turned out to be one of the greatest experiences of their lives.

Shortly after his diagnosis, Jay and Susan moved back to Holladay Utah. During this time Jay was employed by Discover Card. At the time of his passing, He was serving on the High Council, but his heart was always connected to serving, teaching and mentoring youth of any faith or religion.

Jay also leaves behind his mother Vicki Williams; 2 brothers Ron (Dayna) Williams; Blake (Julie) Williams; in-laws Clair (Joyce) Christiansen; Doug (Amy) Christiansen; Scott Christiansen; Shannon (Greg) Seare and a "gaggle" of nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his Father Jim Williams; Sister Michelle Williams and nephew Noah Williams

Viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawns Memorial, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah on August 20, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. and for 1 hour prior to the services. Funeral Service will be held on August 21, 2014 at 11:00 at the Valley View 9th Ward, 1925 Gundersen Lane, (4101 S. 1925 E.) Holladay, Utah.

The family would like to thank Cindy Davidson P.A., Dr. Sunil Sharma, Dr. Anna Beck and the nurses at the Huntsman Infusion Lab for 4 years of expert care. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Valley View 14th WARD (1925 E Gunderson Ln (4100 S)) at 11:00am with a viewing starting at 10:00am.
