JB Golden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 10, 2016.

JB Golden was a husband to Jessie Golden for 66 years, father to Debbie Golden Betz and Rhonda Golden Williams, a grandfather to Camela Williams Hodsdon, Paul Betz, and Adam Williams, and great-grandfather to Ashley and Chandler Hodsdon. He was loved by everyone who met him. He was a man of God who would do anything he could to help someone and left a special place in the hearts of everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
He spent his life serving the Lord, his family, and friends. He also served 27 years in the United States Army. He was an original Special Forces Green Beret created by President John F. Kennedy, he was in the 82nd Airborne, and he also served three tours in Vietnam, along with many other duties in the US Army. He also served in many areas of his church over the years including being a deacon.
JB or Jake as many of his family members called him, had many accomplishments in his 93 years on this earth, but his greatest accomplishment was accepting the Lord as his personal Savior when he was a young man. Even though he will be missed dearly by his family we can be comforted in knowing that he's in Heaven with the Lord and we will see him again one day.

Matthew 25:21 (KJV) - His Lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

JB - You seemed to have a special knack for appearing or disappearing in the least expected places - be it Bad Tolz or downtown Saigon. Always good memories of our encounters and proud to have known you these many many years. See you later "Old Buddy".

I will always hold fast the memories of Uncle Jake, and taking the time, to listen to his many stories. He was always willing to share a laugh and looked toward the World with compassion and hope. He always had a joke about the most simplest things, a story that not only explained his part in life; but, he shared a story that one could carry along with them into their own life. I today, still remember, things Uncle Jake shared and apply them to my own life in hopes of taking the right direction. I share the talent that he and his many siblings had, in being able to talk with a stranger or reaching out to help someone in need. One thing for certain and most importantly, was in leaving him, you always had that feeling of true love and friendship in your heart and knew no matter what that you were always welcomed back. Thank you Uncle Jake for sharing a part of you which I will always carry throughout of life!

Your Nephew,
Olen Golden
