Jean Daly Cruise died peacefully in West Palm Beach, Florida on November 26, 2016 at the age of 89.
Jean is survived by her son, Peter and daughter in law Christine, and by grandchildren Ian, Sean and Heather. She was preceded in death by her mother Ethel Weadock Daly, her aunt Margaret Butler Arnold Snyder and recently by her son William.
Jean was born on November 22, 1927 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Ethel Weadock and Arthur Ogle. She graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1945 and received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1949. Jean later received a Master's degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1967. During her career, she worked for Radio Free Europe in Munich, Germany and USIA in New York City and Washington, D.C. After returning to Florida in the late 1950s, she worked for the Palm Beach Post-Times newspaper and after receiving her Master's degree, for the Palm Beach County School Board, retiring in 1977. Later in life she was a real estate agent for Earl Hollis Real Estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
For many years, Jean was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Palm Beach, also serving with the St. Edward's Church Guild. She later joined St. Ann's Catholic Church in West Palm Beach.
At the family's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank her long time caregiver Bettina Deyl, the Vitas Hospice team, Dr. Joseph Saponaro and Chaplain Gregory Sherman for all their assistance.
