Jean J. Kennedy, 90 of Huntington passed away at 7:25 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at The Heritage of Huntington. Jean was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and was an excellent baker known for her chocolate chip cookies and date nut bread. She was a member of Andrews First Christian Church for 55 years; she attended church at the Heritage of Huntington later in life. Her family was her main focus.

Jean was born on July 31, 1926 in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Menno and Mary (Meyer) Roth.

She was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Kennedy on February 23, 1947 in Harlan, Indiana. They were happily married for 68 years. They lived in Andrews for 62 years and recently resided in Huntington. Lawrence preceded her in death on August 3, 2015.

Additional survivors include their five children: Sharon (Robert) Nightingale of Sweetser; Lawrence (Christine) Kennedy, Jr. of Springfield, IL; Joyce (John) Eckelbarger of Huntington; Rita (Gregory) Hawk of Novi, MI; Becky (Joseph) Mumm of Bremen; two sisters: Norma Gustin of Harlan; Kathleen Thomas of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren: Robby (Lisa) Nightingale, Christie (Aaron) Lake, Lawrence (Shelly) Kennedy III, Luke (Katie) Kennedy, Matthew Kennedy, Scott (Kim) Eckelbarger, Joe (Jessica) Eckelbarger, Alexandra Hawk, Brandon (Nicole) Koch, Ryan (Molly) Koch and Emily Koch and 25 great grandchildren: Cameron, Morgan, Logan, Rhiley, Austin, Blakely, Lilly, Monica, Maddie, Mazie, Lane, Josie, Oliver, Brittany, Justin, Kraegan, Kaylor, Karlie, Gus, Lucy, Sam, Gino, Corbin, Liam and Julian and two great great grandchildren. Jean and Lawrence have a total of over 60 family members.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Max Roth and Roger Roth, a sister: Betty Ream, a granddaughter: Julie Nall, great granddaughter: Autumn Nall and great grandson: Karter Koch.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Andrews.

Memorial donations can be made out to Bible Baptist Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Becky: I just found out about your mother passing from my cousin and thought I would let you know that I am sorry for your loss. I didn't know about your father either. I don't get back to Indiana very often since my mom is in Texas with my sister. Hopefully we can reconnect in the future and catch up since it has been years since we saw each other.
