Jean Adams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 28, 2012.

Jean Hayden Ward Adams passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 with her loving family surrounding her. Jean was born on September 15, 1921 to Samuel Gilbert and Ione Brewster Ward in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jean grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where she attended Paschal High School. She then attended Texas Christian University where she met and married the love of her life, Woodrow Adams. After several years, Jean and Woodrow settled in Midland where she lived until 2008. From 2008 to 2012 Jean lived in Stephenville, Texas to be close to her son and family. She loved life, people, and valued her family above all else. Jean was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Midland where she was an active member of her Sunday school class. For many years, Jean was a volunteer at the Immunization Clinic of the Midland Health Department. She was also active in her Study Club, Book Club, Sewing Club, 20th Century Woman's Club League and a member of the Ranchland Hills Country Club.
Jean was an avid bird watcher and lover of all flowers but her passion was her family to whom she was devoted. She was a radiant Christian woman and will always be remembered as a loving and blessed wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to all that knew and loved her. Jean's love is all around us and we thank God for her life and legacy of love.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Woodrow Adams and loving son, Gary Lee Adams.
She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Peggy Adams. She is also survived by her precious five granddaughters, Terri and Amy Adams of Midland, Texas and their parents Anne and Larry Kelso; Allison and her husband, Tony Ballinger of Morgan Mill, Texas; Hayden and her husband, John Kimberlin of Millsap, Texas; and Dr. Lauren Adams of Morgan Mill, Texas. Jean was also blessed with four great grandchildren: Lane, Carson and Henley Ballinger, and London Kimberlin, as well as her loving sister, Elaine Shaw and husband, Robert. There are many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss Jean Hayden as well.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. Interment will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at 11:00am at Ellis Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at: www.ellisfunerals.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to Integra Care Hospice, 937 FM 1821 North, Suite A, Mineral Wells, Texas 76067 or The National Audubon Society, 225 Varick Street, New York, New York 1014, 212-979-3000.

Sam,Peggy,Terri,Amy, Allison, Hayden and Lauren, my prayers are with each of you as you grieve the loss of one of the most wonderful people I have been honored to know. I have such wonderful memories of delivering Jean and Woody's mail on Apperson. Jean and I became fast friends as we shared stories about our families. Mrs. Jean loved each of you and shared many stories with me. Jean was first a beautiful Christian woman, she shared her love of Jesus Christ with everyone she met. And of course she loved her family, eagerly sharing stories about each of you. I praise God that HE honored me with knowing Mrs. Jean. I will see her again because we have a promise of eternal life. Love Martha Alcala
