ANDERSON, Jean Violet (STARKE) On the evening of June 27th, 2014 in Kitchener, Ontario at the age of 79, Jean passed away quietly with her family by her side. Loving and devoted mother to Bill and his wife Carol of Oakville; proud Oma of Hayley; dear sister of George Starke and his wife Beryl; and cherished aunt of Peggy Smith and Pamela Bell. Predeceased by her parents Kurt Starke and Margaret Boldt.
Jean grew up in Kitchener, Ontario before marrying and moving to the east coast to live in the Halifax/Dartmouth area eventually returning to Kitchener as a single parent.
Jean spent many years working as a secretary at Wilfred Laurier University, originally in the Registrar's Office, when it was still called Waterloo Lutheran University, and then in the School of Business and Economics until her retirement.
Jean was a long time member of Zion United Church on Weber Street in Kitchener.
The family is very appreciative of the all the support given over the years by the staff of The Westmount Long Term Care Residence in Kitchener, where Jean was one of the original residents to move in after the facility first opened.

To Bill and family, my sincere condolences for your loss. Despite her illness, Jean was never one to complain and she bore her limitations with great dignity. I know how proud she was of Bill, who couldn't have been a better son, and how much she loved him, Hayley and Carol.

Even though I (Dave) only met Jean a few times, she was always a warm and welcoming person to me and Bill always spoke fondly of her. Through Bill's eyes, I could see Jean was a wonderful mother and was always there for Bill. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bill, Carol and Hayley. Love Dave and Pam

Dear Bill, Carol and Hayley,
We have very fond memories of Jean and those Christmas times when she was able to be with us.
You have been the most loving of sons Bill, to whom I know you thought was the most loving of mothers.
We were so glad that Hayley got to spend some time with her loving Oma.
We have also enjoyed looking at all the photos showcasing Jean's life and of you, Bill, when you were younger.
With lots of love and Blessings.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I have so many memories of our childhood, teens and early 20's of being at Jean's house. Much talk and debate on nice summer days with Jean and her Mom on the front porch there on Madison Ave. Jean was always kind to me and tried to mother me(occasionally with some success). Remember caging rides with her to WLU during my 1st year.
I hope all your fond memories are some comfort in this hard time, take care "Dude"...your friend Stef

Dear Bill, Carol and Hayley: so sorry that we are so far away and cannot be there with you to remember Jean. It is really good that you were able to spend so much time with her, and that you were able to be with her at the end. She was very much loved, and she knew it. Our sincerest condolences.

Jeanie and I played together as small children being about the same age and we were fond of each other. The last time I saw her was at her mom's funeral years ago. My mom and Dad are interred close to Kurt and Margaret Starke and I always pay my respects to both. Love Lorne Boldt

You all know that our prayers and love are with you all always, but especially now when "Our sincerest sympathy" is a small part of how we feel towards you all at this time. Trust in knowing Bill that your mom is free of all pain and is home with her heavenly father, watching over everyone.
