Jean E. Brown Jean Eloise (Crandall) Brown, 89, of NC, formerly of Martinsburg, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Southern Pines, NC. Born April 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Oren Earl and Eugenia (McCutcheon) Crandall of Gauley Bridge, WV. She relocated in 1956 with her husband who was transferred from Charleston to establish the 167th Air National Guard in Martinsburg. Jean earned her teaching degree from the West Virginia Institute of Technology, and her Masters in Library Science from Shepherd College. Jean Eloise (Crandall) Brown, 89, of NC, formerly of Martinsburg, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Southern Pines, NC.
Born April 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Oren Earl and Eugenia (McCutcheon) Crandall of Gauley Bridge, WV.
She relocated in 1956 with her husband who was transferred from Charleston to establish the 167th Air National Guard in Martinsburg. Jean earned her teaching degree from the West Virginia Institute of Technology, and her Masters in Library Science from Shepherd College. She was the librarian at North Middle School from its opening until her retirement in 1984.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. James Edward Brown, her sister, Marianna Burke, and a grandson, Matthew Richard Ring.
She is survived by her son, James Richard Brown, and his wife Tempe; her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Ring, and her husband Nelson; two grandchildren, Charl Lynn Snodgress, and husband Harold, and Timothy Cleve Shoemaker, and his wife Emily; and great-grandchildren, Michelle, Katie, Ryan, and Tom Snodgress, Tonya and Eric Shoemaker; two brothers, William O. Crandall, and his wife Carol, and Dr. Richard E. Crandall, and his wife Jean.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends 6-8 PM, Friday, January 11, 2013 at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
Graveside Services will be 10 AM Saturday in Rosedale Cemetery.
Jean was a faithful and generous supporter of the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission and the First Baptist Church for many years. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to either of these organizations.
