Jean Ann Clem, a longtime Pittsburgh resident died peacefully in her sleep on December 4, 2013. She was 86. Mrs. Clem was born on July 4, 1927 in Metuchen, New Jersey, daughter of the late Robert and Emily Mook. Mrs. Clem is a graduate of Ohio State University, Columbus Ohio in Occupational Therapy. Mrs. Clem married Donald Y. Clem on September 17, 1949 at the Calvery Presbyterian Church in Wyncote P A. Mr. Clem preceded her in death in 2006. Jean Ann Clem, a longtime Pittsburgh resident died peacefully in her sleep on December 4,
2013. She was 86. Mrs. Clem was born on July 4, 1927 in Metuchen, New Jersey, daughter of
the late Robert and Emily Mook. Mrs. Clem is a graduate of Ohio State University, Columbus
Ohio in Occupational Therapy. Mrs. Clem married Donald Y. Clem on September 17, 1949 at
the Calvery Presbyterian Church in Wyncote P A. Mr. Clem preceded her in death in 2006.
Jean is survived by her three sons, Steven (Boulder CO), Jonathan (Fremont CA), and Andrew
(Pittsburgh PA), daughter-in-laws Deborah, Tien and former daughter-in-law Sandra, her two
sisters, Marjorie and Elaine, seven grandchildren, Matthew, Timothy, David, Erica, Elizabeth,
Alicia and Wesley, and seven great-grandchildren, Brielle, Keira, Ellery, Louisa, Justin, AJ, and
Nathan.
Jean and her family moved to the Pittsburgh area in 1958, eventually settling in the Ben Avon
area in 1963. She and her husband moved to Masonic Village in 2004. Throughout their
married life, Jean and her husband travelled extensively throughout the United States and many
foreign countries.
Jean will always be remembered as a loving Mom, Grandmother and Nanna. She treasured her
time with her family and was always gracious and generous to those around her. Her family and
friends will remember her smile and laughter and fondly recall all the wonderful memories that
she created. She vacationed annually in Stone Harbor, New Jersey for over 30 years, and was
always joined by a number of family members.
Jean was a very active member of the Sewickley Presbyterian Church and a faithful member of
the Koinonia Prayer and Study group. She was an active philanthropic to a large number of
charitable organizations. Jean was well known for her handiwork, much of it donated to Linus
and other church related mission projects.
A memorial service will be held at 1 :00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Sewickley
Presbyterian Church, 414 Grant Street, Sewickley, P A, followed by a reception at the Edgeworth
Club in Edgeworth, PA. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Sewickley
Presbyterian Church. Arrangements entrusted to Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15202.
