Jean Carolyn McBride Johnson passed away peacefully at home in Clermont, Florida on October 3, 2013. She was born on October 19, 1922 in Elma, WA to Ralph and Ellen McBride. She grew up mostly in Aberdeen, WA, graduated from Kelso High School and attended Linfield College in McMinnville, OR.
She graduated from the University of Washington where she met James T. Johnson whom she married in 1947. While Mr. Johnson attended law school at the UW, Jean instructed students in the operation of business machines at Seattle U. In 1950 Mr. Johnson began a legal career in Olympia and they started a family. In 1951 they moved to Seattle where Mr. Johnson practiced law for almost 50 years. They moved to Bellevue in 1958 and lived in that area for over 40 years. Jean attended to household, as well as child rearing duties, but had time for an active social life and enjoyed interacting with her many friends. Jean was a longtime member of the Seattle First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Washington Athletic Club, Women's University Club, Overlake Golf and Country Club and other organizations.
Mr. Johnson passed away in 2001 and in 2004 Jean, who loved warm weather, left Bellevue and moved to Florida with her son Gregg who took good care of her until the end. In Florida she made more friends and enjoyed frequent visits from her other children and sitting on the patio and watching the golfers and wildlife go by. Jean is survived by her children, Nick Johnson, of Camano Island, WA, Jan Greene, of Colville, WA and Gregg Johnson, of Clermont, FL; grandchildren Erin Greene, Karlynn Greene, Noah Greene, Lisa Greene, Hannah Greene; and great grandchild Sonja Jones.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Education Institute.
