Obituary

Jean (Sambrailo) Wilson passed away Wednesday, March 28. 2012. Born nine days before the Great Depression, Jean was always helping someone somewhere. When her children were small, she took them on many adventures around San Francisco. She would fill the 1951 Mercury with as many neighborhood kids that would fit in pre-seat belt days, so that was a lot! As President of PTA , she made sure every Saturday at the school's huge cafeteria, kids were entertained by movie shorts such as the Three Stooges, local celebrities such as Mayor Art, Capt. Satellite & others, because she said, "These kids, need something to do on the weekends." Through the years the people she affected were legion. From running the local SHARE food program to helping people get jobs, organizing legal papers for a new church, helping hundreds of people receive rebates through the Home Owner's and Renter's Assistance Program. Jean freely volunteered her time. She knew how to organize projects and get things done. If she didn't know the answer, she would find it or find the people who did. The last of a dwindling breed, Jean was a great letter writer, sending cards for all occasions or writing to our local Representatives, Congressmen and Senators for their assistance with someone's difficulties. She was the prime example that one person can make a difference. The tiny Highland's Senior Center on Lakeshore Dr. that grew into the big center on Bowers Ave. filled a large part of her life. In the early days she would always be searching for the best deals, be it finding coffee mugs, silverware or good prices on supplies, she knew how to make the center's money go further. Jean knew many people in all walks of life, so if you have a story to share about Jean, please send a note (She would be pleased) to P.O. Box 976, Lower Lake, CA. 95457 or sign the guest book www.jonesandlewis.com. A celebration of life will be held at the Highland's Senior Center, 3245 Bowers Ave. Clearlake. on Friday, April 6, starting at 1p.m., along with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Highland's Senior Center.
