Jeptha E. Johnson, Jr., 93, resident of High Point, NC died Monday, August 18th, 2014 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield. Jep was born January 15, 1921 in Morris, Georgia, the youngest son to the late Jeptha Elam and Edna Jolly Johynson. At the age of 6 the family moved to Valdosta, Georgia where Jep was raised. Jep was a World War II veteran. He came to High Point after the war and began a 40 year career selling vener to furniture manufacturers. In 1943 he married the love of his life, Thelma E. Jeptha E. Johnson, Jr., 93, resident of High Point, NC died Monday, August 18th, 2014 at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.

Jep was born January 15, 1921 in Morris, Georgia, the youngest son to the late Jeptha Elam and Edna Jolly Johynson. At the age of 6 the family moved to Valdosta, Georgia where Jep was raised.

Jep was a World War II veteran. He came to High Point after the war and began a 40 year career selling vener to furniture manufacturers.

In 1943 he married the love of his life, Thelma E. Lovett who preceded him in death on March 15, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laura J. Morrow, his brothers J. Carlyle and A. Sidney Johnson.

Survivors include a son, Paul B. Johnson and wife Elaine of High Point, son-in-law Billy R. Morrow of High Point, granddaughters Paige Johnson of High Point, and Tracy Harris of Austin, Texas. Jep said he was blessed with the best son-in-law and daughter-in-law that anyone could hope to have.

Jep was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the Lloyd Thayer Sunday School Class.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, August 21rst at First Baptist Church, 405 N. Main Street, High Point, NC with the Rev. Bruce Hartgrove and the Rev. Tom Warrington officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 20th at Secrest Funeral Service 1301 E. Lexington Ave.High Point, NC from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, 405 N. Main Street, High Point, NC 27260. The family extends special thanks to nurses and staff of the McEwen House at Pennybyrn at Maryfield for the special care and abundant love given to Jep.
