Jerome Gariff, (Jerry) 84, of Chandler, AZ passed away on April 9, 2013.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years RoseAnn (Mangone) Chandler, AZ, son Gary (JoAnn) St Charles, Ill, son David (Joelle) Washington DC, daughter Geri V Bryant (JD) Chandler, AZ, sister MaryAnn Dube (Paul) Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren, Kim Christiansen (Derek) St. Charles, Ill, TJ Vernon, Andy Vernon ( Erica), and Jordan Bryant from Chandler, AZ, and great-grandson Bo Christiansen from St. Charles Ill.

Jerome was born in Rochester, NY on July 28,1928 to Christine and Anthony Gariff. He was the eldest of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was educated in the public school system in Rochester before undertaking an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker. After a period of self-employment with his father, he was hired by the Eastman Kodak Company. In 1948 he married Rose Ann Mangone. After 25 years of service with Kodak, he moved his family to Phoenix, AZ in 1970. In Arizona he continued his career as a sheet metal worker in the Physical Facilities Plant at Arizona State University, retiring in 1991 after 19 years of employment.

He was a serious and avid fisherman starting when he was a young man in Rochester, NY. He passed that love on to his sons and daughter. He enjoyed many years of fishing in Sun Lakes were he resided with his wife for almost 20 years. It was during those years that he spent many hours teaching and fishing with his 2 oldest grandsons TJ and Andy.

In the summer of 2008 his health began to fail, and he wanted to have one last fishing trip. He flew with his grandson TJ to Minocqua, WI, where he spent a week fishing with his son Gary at his lake house. After returning from that trip he moved in with his daughter Geri and her family so that she could take care of him.

All four of his grandchildren were the light of his life. He attend his grandaughter Kim's wedding in October of 2009, his grandson Andy's wedding in November of 2009. He saw all three of his oldest grandchildren graduate from grade school, high school, college and also receive post-graduate degrees. His last year of life he saw his youngest grandson Jordan graduate from 8th grade and his oldest grandson TJ graduate from medical school. He has a great grandson Bo, 9 months old, who lives in St. Charles, Ill who he enjoyed looking at pictures of. A week before he passed away, on Easter morning, he was given the news by his grandson Andy that he was going to have another great-grandbaby due this October. It put a smile on his face.

Visitation is April 18th from 5-8pm with a celebration of his life at 6pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary. Funeral service will be April 19 at 11am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chandler, followed by a graveside service and reception at his daughter's home.

"Aunt Geri, I am so sorry to hear this, gonna miss that turkey, we are all thinking of you and the family, and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Adam Davis"
