Jerry Vernon Threlkeld, age 80, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017, at home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on February 28, 1937 in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1956. He married his high school sweetheart, Teresa and served in the National Guard and Air Force for 6 years as an AeroMed Tech. He spent the remainder of his prestigious career as a fireman with Irving Fire Department and retired after 28 years of service with a final rank of Captain. He was preceded in death by his parents Orian and Amy Mason Threlkeld, and sister, Edith “Edie Mae” Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Teresa Threlkeld; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Lewis and Jo Murray; daughter, Teri Owens and her husband Kirk, their children Jeffrey Owens and Kerise Ridinger; daughter, Jeri Fuller and her husband Jerry Don, their children Jeremy Fuller, J.D. Fuller, and Lezlie Allen; daughter, Tami Threlkeld, her children Dusten Higgs, Mathew Higgs, and Jessica Threlkeld; and 17 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday, June 17 at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church 6101 Morriss Rd. Flower Mound, Texas 75028. There will also be a Graveside Service immediately following at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Cemetery, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, Texas 76034.
Reception following after graveside services at the Threlkeld home.
