Lake Charles - Jerry E. Cox, 66, passed away February 27, 2013 in a local hospital after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and lived in Moss Bluff. He was a retired Sargent with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and served in law enforcement for twenty eight years. He was a veteran in the U. S. Army and served in Korea. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Hunting Club, a charter member of the Krewe Du Masque. He loved the outdoors, horses, animals, fishing, hunting, his camp on Westfork, playing cards, especially Bourre', with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Broussard Cox of Moss Bluff; step-son, Jimmy Clark (Serena) of Moss Bluff; daughters, Dawn Cox Shipp (Daniel) of Ville Platte; Denise "Dee" Coralluzzo (Scott) of Melleville, NJ; Cathy Galbraith (Bob) of Atlantic City, NJ; step-daughter, Barbara McCall (Jeremy) of Westlake; grandchildren, Logan Shipp, Cody Shipp, James Clark, Kaylee Clark, Layla McCall, Samantha Torres and Tyler Torres. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna McDonald; step-son, James Stacy Lafleur; grandson, James Andrew Clark; mother-in-law, Odile Broussard and his favorite companion, his dog, Oscar.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
His service will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Msgr. Charles DuBois will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at New Ritchie Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com

I was really sorry to hear about Jerry passing. The times we went hunting together at Loggy Bayou were always fun and I considered him a friend.
