Jerry Lynn Hatfield, 54, of Eagle, Michigan, passed away June 26, 2014. He was born on October 24, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Melvin and Jeanette (Snay) Hatfield. Jerry graduated from Bath High School and continued on to plumbing school. He later obtained a Master Plumber's License and an Associate's degree in Business Management. In 1979, Jerry started working at Sparrow Hospital and eventually became Chief Master Plumber. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. In addition, Jerry was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Lodge #1039. He was also an active member of North Westminster Presbyterian Church. ...
Jerry Lynn Hatfield, 54, of Eagle, Michigan, passed away June 26, 2014. He was born on October 24, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Melvin and Jeanette (Snay) Hatfield. Jerry graduated from Bath High School and continued on to plumbing school. He later obtained a Master Plumber's License and an Associate's degree in Business Management. In 1979, Jerry started working at Sparrow Hospital and eventually became Chief Master Plumber. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. In addition, Jerry was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Lodge #1039. He was also an active member of North Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jerry and his wife, Brenda, loved to travel and spend time together. He enjoyed visiting with his family in Bliss, Michigan. He supported many of his daughters' interests by attending dance recitals, orchestra concerts, cheerleading events, and basketball games. The joy of Jerry's life was his grandson, Nate, and they spent every waking moment together. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Hagan, Dr. Vangala, the Mayo Clinic Specialists, and all Sparrow nurses who cared for him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Melvin Roy. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Brenda; daughters, Marcy (Ryan) Everett and Amy Hatfield; grandson, Nathan Hatfield; mother-in-law, Betty Babcock; brothers, Roger Lee Hatfield and James (Angie) Hatfield; sister-in-law, Diane Hatfield; and brothers-in-law, David (Cathi) Babcock, Don (Brenda) Babcock, Doug (Renee) Babcock, and Darryn (Robin) Babcock.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at North Westminster Presbyterian Church, 743 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Lansing, MI 48915. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church and on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 4812. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Sparrow Foundation Care for the Caregiver, 1110 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912 or to North Westminster Presbyterian Church at the address listed above.
