Jerry Lee "Bub" Lowtharpe, 73, of Statesville went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born May 27, 1939, in Statesville and was a son of the late Thomas Roy and Emma Haire Lowtharpe. He was a retired carpenter, maintenance worker with Outrigger Harbor in Lake Norman and dairy farmer. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and going camping with the grandchildren. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and attended Society Baptist Church. Jerry Lee "Bub" Lowtharpe, 73, of Statesville went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born May 27, 1939, in Statesville and was a son of the late Thomas Roy and Emma Haire Lowtharpe. He was a retired carpenter, maintenance worker with Outrigger Harbor in Lake Norman and dairy farmer. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and going camping with the grandchildren. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and attended Society Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Katie Overcash and Dean Rash; an infant brother, Jimmie A. Lowtharpe; and a brother-in-law, Carl P. Cartner.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Seamon Lowtharpe whom he married on January 1, 1969; three children, Louie (Lorri) Lowtharpe, Loretta Lowtharpe Bowers, and Latney (Judy) Lowtharpe; six grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey and Landon Lowtharpe, Meredith-Ann, Clint and Gracey Lowtharpe; a sister, Ann L. Cartner all of Statesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating Jerry's life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Society Baptist Church with the Rev. David Childers officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Kelly Overcash, Clint Sweatman, Jacob Miles, Tyler Wooten, Brian Welborn, and Johnny Holton will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2013, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
