On February 21, 2014 Jerry Wayne Ruffner, 74, of Midland, Texas, was graciously escorted home by Jesus.
Jerry was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, on February 11, 1941. He graduated from Hobbs Senior High School. While in High School he worked at Ruffner's Foods and Butcher Shop until entering the Air Force. He worked for a time as a police officer in Hobbs, NM. He then spent many years in various oil field related jobs. In his later years, he was employed at JCPenneys.
Jerry married Betty Nipp in 1961; they were married 19 years. They have two children, Norma Frasier and Rickey Ruffner. He later married, Carol "Cassie" Ruffner in 1991; they were married 24 years.
He enjoyed his family, wood working projects, reading, arts and crafts. He was an avid story teller, sharing many interesting tales about his youthful exploits.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alva A. Ruffner and Nellie Mae Ruffner, and his siblings Larry Ruffner, Kenny Ruffner, and Connie Scroggins.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Cassie Ruffner; his children Norma Frasier and Rickey Ruffner; his step children Todd Jenkins, Don and Heather Jenkins, Stephanie and Joel Hegeman, Leigh and Jeff Mains; his grandchildren, Teresa Rodgers, Eugene Rodgers Jr., Johnny Douglas Junior Frasier; Jonathan Caleb Jenkins, Sierra Nicole Jenkins, Rachael Marie Jenkins, and Matthew Isaac Jenkins; Joel August Hegeman, Jr., Samuel Zane Hegeman, Isabella Joy Hegeman, Ashleigh Zoe Mains, Jessica Brooke Mains, Joshua Knight Mains; and great grandchildren Skye Anne Rodgers-Small, Perrin Alexander Rodgers-Small, Gaia Lynn Rodgers, Brean Starseeker Rodgers-Marsh, Evan Christopher Frasier, Kaylee Marie Frasier, and Lyllah Isabelle Frasier.
A Memorial Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26th at Ellis Funeral Home with Mickey Eckels officiating. A reception will held following the service at the Ruffner residence, 3204 Cimmaron Ave., Midland.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be given in Jerry's name to the Midland Children's Advocacy Center, P.O. Box 10081, Midland, Texas 79702.

Summer Holt

Rest in peace grandpa. So sorry I never got a chance to say goodbye but we will surely meet again in heaven! I look forward to that day.
