Services for Jesse Darl Casady, 97, of Tyler, are scheduled at 10:00am Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Betsy Shivery officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Mr. Casady went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2017. He was born February 1, 1920 to the late Ray and Edna Casady in Turpin, Oklahoma. He was a resident of Tyler since 1982, moving here from California.

Jesse Casady was a successful scholar, attending the University at A&M in Oklahoma for his bachelor's degree in two short years, and received his graduate degree from Harvard University. Mr. Casady was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Corps, stationed on Normandy Beach during the war. He worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed and Boeing whose accomplishments included working on US nuclear missile systems.

He we preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Ellen Casady, whom he met in Washington DC where they both worked at the Pentagon.
He was a world traveler, enjoying cruises with Mary Ellen and loved fishing for yellow tuna in Florida, and salmon in Alaska. After his retirement he was an active member of his church, volunteered at the Salvation Army and worked on writing a book of his life experiences in his later years. At his 95th birthday, the city of Tyler declared February 1st "Jesse Casady Day".

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Casady, Cecil Casady and Harold Casady, his sisters, Vida Noland, Edna Mae Correl, and Judy Jordon.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Michele and William Derrington of Houston, a son, Richard Casady of Prescott, Arizona, brother and sister-in-law, Roscoe and Roberta Casady of Liberal, Kansas, and Bessie Colvin of Arizona, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
