Elder Jesse Runnels, Jr. was born the 7th child of 10 children born to the parentage of Jesse and Cherry Runnels on November 28, 1927 in Forney, Texas. He received his formal education from the Dallas Independent School District, later he enlisted into the United States Army for several years. Elder Runnels confessed Christ at an early age and later accepted his calling to the ministry after his honorable discharge from the Army. On September 6, 1969, he met and married VassieLissa Mosley, to this union no children was born.



Elder Runnels worked for many years at L.D. Brinkman until his retirement. Elder Runnels loved life; he was a free-spirited man. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, traveling, fishing, and other activities. Elder Runnels was very humble and loved his family in his own special way.



Elder Jesse Runnels, Jr. loved preaching God’s word and his favorite saying was “Don’t get me started”. His favorite song was “How Great Thou Art”. Elder Jesse Runnels, Jr. was a faithful member of Greater Holmes Street Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of Elder James Runnels.



Elder Runnels made his earthly transition on Friday July 28, 2017 at his residence.



He leaves behind to cherish his memories: A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Elder Jesse Runnels, Jr. will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
