Jesse Grady Martin was born on July 20, 1939 at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to Mother Omie Bertha Allison and Father William Robert Martin. He was the youngest of four children, Francis, Ann, Bobby and Jesse.
He joined the U.S. Air Force at the age 18, and completed his basic training at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston/Galveston, Texas. Jesse met Kathy Jean Martin at the Lamar Hotel Coffee Shop and both were married on October 17, 1957, she was 15 and he was 18. Born to their marriage on May 23, 1958 was daughter Julie Ann Martin, followed by Jesse Grady Martin Jr. on July 18, 1960.
He had four wonderful grandchildren, Hannah Martin, Tiffany Aune, Dakotah Martin, and Derek Aune.
Jesse lived most of his life in the Houston area working for Admiral Linen & Uniform Service for 40 years starting off as a route driver he worked his way up to be VP for the same company. Through his hard working ethic about never missing work, and his strength and vision, he provided for his family and his future.
An avid fisherman, hunter, and all around sportsman, you might say he did it all and enjoyed every minute of his adventures. Sometimes without regard for the danger, handsome and fearless he challenged all those who knew him.
Jesse loved his dogs more than most; Penny & Pepper were his constant companions through thick and thin. Penny was his dachshund and Pepper was a type of blue heeler. Penny died about the time Jesse began to get ill, and Pepper died several years later.
The disease of Alzheimer is like a thief in the night, robbing a man of everything that matters in life, but Jesse was a strong fighter, and surrounded by those that loved him, he fought his battle to stay on God's green earth for over 10 years.
On a Saturday night December 7, 2013, God reached down from up above and told him, my son you are a courageous warrior, but it's time for you to come home and rest now. So close your eyes and know that I will take care of your loved ones, as they know this not the end, but the beginning of your life everlasting. They will see you again, so rest in my arms as we leave your earthly bounds and soar high above the mountains to heaven's eternity.
