Jesus (Jesse) Magallan, 59, passed away, May 2, 2013, peacefully at his home in Victoria, TX. Jesse was born on April 26, 1954, in Galveston, TX to Antonio and Guadalupe Ramirez Magallan. Jesse grew up in Victoria, TX. He graduated in 1973 from Victoria High School, where he was an all-region defensive tackle for the Fighting Stingarees. Jesse would then join the United States Navy and serve in Honolulu, HI and Guam manning the U.S.S. Badger as a machinist's mate fireman. After being honorably discharged, Jesse began his career with Shell Oil in Deer Park, TX. Jesse diligently worked his way up through the ranks at Shell during his 13 years of service as a Process Operator. Because of his expertise in chemical processing, Jesse was asked to join the OxyChem family and aid in the startup of their new plant in Ingleside, TX. Jesse moved his family from Deer Park to Victoria and would commute daily 75 miles each way to work. Despite the long drives, Jesse always found time for his children's many events. Jesse spent his final 11 years courageously battling injuries he sustained during a car accident while driving home.
Jesse was an avid sportsman, excelling in everything he tried: football, basketball, softball, long distance running and golf (and anything you challenged him to). He loved dancing, fishing and yard work. His clever mind made him a natural at board games and his quick wit made him loved by all. Jesse will be forever remembered for his infectious smile, unpredictable humor and his compassion for others. He was always a family man and he particularly had a special bond with his many nieces and nephews. But most of all he loved his wife of 38 years, Jane (nee' Ramirez) and his four children, Christopher (Jennifer), Michael, Mary Jane and Alina. Jesse is survived by his wife and four children, his mother, his grandchildren Zoe and Ava Magallan; his brothers Victor, Johnny, David, Anthony, and Joel Magallan; and sisters, Sarah Lira, Lupe Olguin, Mary Perez, Ciria Hernandez, Annie Ramirez, Connie Hernandez and Patricia Pena ; and his 36 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father

He is such a handsome man, and now his eternal light will continue to shine on us all from the Heaven's above. God Bless each and everyone of the Magallan Family. My GREAT-AUNT did an awesome and GODLY job of raising her large family, and the Respect and Love still shown to The Magallan's family today speaks volumes and the admiration for you all of you who were by Jesse's side until death is heroic and was not in vain.

I'm sure it's difficult to try and describe in words how your absence will affect the lives of those who knew and loved you. You truly were magical and I've always believed it. The way you were able to draw people to you with your charismatic personality and the fact that you could strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone, are just a few of the many things that I admired about you. You showed those that you loved how much you cared about them by always listening and providing kindness, and you always let them know how special they were to you, through your compliments and actions. But most importantly, you lived your life 'to the fullest.' You were intent on accomplishing your goals and attaining your dreams. That is your legacy and I'm sure everyone will preserve it as best they can. Everything that made you the person you were will always be special to me. We all aspire to be something in life. Above all else, we should aspire to be as happy as you were as you truly made every moment count. In my laughter and in my tears, you will never be far away. I love and miss you every day Jesse, and congratulations for living your life the way we all should...
