February 12, 2013, after years of valiantly fighting cancer, surgeries, dialysis and pneumonia. His
parents are the late Pledger and Maulsie Myrlene, his grandparents are the late Luther
Montreville and Lonie Posey Agan. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rayborn Agan, and his
loving children, Gabriel Lee Agan (Lindy Mahler Agan), Abbey Monica Agan (Wes Ross),
and Amanda Myrlene Agan; as well as his beloved brother, Tim Agan (Sara), his mother-in-
law, Lois Ellis Eggleston Rayborn Post, and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and
nephews, and wonderful bakery co-workers. Jimmy loved owning and operating Agan's
Bakery in Cartersville. His family moved here in 1961, and Pledger owned a bakery on
Church Street. Jimmy played varsity football at Bremen High School as a freshman and,
transferring, was an allstate player at Cartersville High School, where he also held for a time
the shot put record on the track team and graduated in 1965. He received his Bachelor of
Science degree majoring in sociology and minoring in psychology from West Georgia
College, where he threw the shot put on the track team. He served in the United States
Marine Corps Reserves during the Vietnam era. He started his bakery in 1982, and it has
become a landmark. Jimmy loved to ride motorcycles and at one time white water
canoeing. He had been very strong and was a weight lifter. He most loved spending time
with family and talking with friends and customers and will be greatly missed
