Jimmy Ray Akin, Sr. 62 of Texarkana, Texas passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 in a local hospital. Mr. Akin was born October 15, 1950 in Texarkana, Texas. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Midway Motor Freight. He is preceded in death by his parents E.K. and Pauline Akin; brothers Edgar Lee and Thomas Earl Akin. Survived by his wife of 38 years Ramona Anne Akin of Texarkana; son and daughter-in-law Jimmy Ray Akin Jr. and Jamie Akin of Texarkana; daughter and son-in-law Paula Jo and Kevin Greer Sr. of Texarkana; grandchildren Kamarie Carroll, Justin Collins, Emani Greer, Hollie B....

Survived by his wife of 38 years Ramona Anne Akin of Texarkana; son and daughter-in-law Jimmy Ray Akin Jr. and Jamie Akin of Texarkana; daughter and son-in-law Paula Jo and Kevin Greer Sr. of Texarkana; grandchildren Kamarie Carroll, Justin Collins, Emani Greer, Hollie B. Akin, Skyler "Skeeter" Anne Lewis, Jamie Lewis-Greer, Gracie Akin, Haylie Akin and K.J. Greer. Plus a special sister-in-law Helen Akin of Redwater, TX.

Graveside funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Moores Chapel Cemetery behind Northwood Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Webb officiating.

Family will receive friends at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane Monday from 6 to 8pm.

Family will be at the family home at 2835 F.M. 559. Texarkana, Texas.
