JoAnna Kopjo was a beloved mother, cherished Grandmother and devoted Christian. She shared the love of Christ with everyone she met. She passed away at the age of 83 while being cared for by the loving staff at the Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Township, Michigan on Friday April 4th, 2014.

Born in rural Kentucky to Jimmie D. Perkins and Nobie Kate Stuart on December 7th, 1930, she called Franklin her hometown. Life on the farm was the norm until moving to Detroit, Michigan.

She was married to James Kopjo, a long-time employee for the City of St. Clair Shores. James passed away on October 25, 2011. JoAnna & James were know to all for their hospitality in the "Shores" and their vacation homes in Gatlinburg, Cat Lake and Florida.

JoAnna is survived by her daughter Vicki (and her husband Gary.) She is also remembered by her two grandsons; Scott and Paul. Scott (and his wife Laurie) were very close with JoAnna. He grew up taking numerous trips and vacations with his grandparents. Paul called JoAnna his "sweetheart" and loved visiting his "Mema." JoAnna was very happy and pleased to know that Paul has a good home and enjoys his life at the Greater Mack Group Home. She had a special place in her heart for James' brother Ray, his wife Rita and their family. The endless love that flowed from God through JoAnna was always unconditionally passed on to her family.

She loved to plant flowers, do crafts and write encouraging notes to family and friends. She was a lifelong, active member of the Northeast Church of Christ.

JoAnna personally chose to have her memorial at the Kaul Funeral Home at 28433 Jefferson Ave. in St. Clair Shores, where both her husband and mother were memorialized. Visitation will be on Tuesday April 8th from 3-9 P.M. The funeral, lead by Stan Clanton of the Northeast Church of Christ, will be on Wednesday April 9th at 12:00 P.M. with a luncheon to follow.

While the family would most like to request your prayers and thoughts at this difficult time, memorial gifts can be directed to the Church of Christ Care Center to help them provide peace and serenity to others.
