Of Vadnais Heights
Died peacefully in her sleep September 10, 2016 following more than four years struggling against the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease. Preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Donald Ericson and mother Hatti Kraut. She is survived by son, Dennis; grandson, Donald; along with cousins & second cousins; many loving friends in her townhome neighborhood and elsewhere. Her Yorkies were her primary source of pure joy, yet there was always room in her heart for one more animal if it was in any way hurting for love or in need of help. Joanie was an extremely accomplished seamstress and also very capable of converting fish, fowl or beast into a savory meal. However her greatest pride was reserved for her husband and his many accomplishments in the world of aviation. Mass of Christian Burial Celebrating her life will be 11 AM Thursday September 15th, at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church,1725 Kennard Street, Maplewood. Visitation 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Sharing Caring Hands in North Minneapolis. Joanie was deeply moved by those who found their way to Mary's Place (Mary Jo Copeland) seeking food and shelter especially the children.
